Blue Lagoon Boat Trips From Valletta: 5 Best Options

Staying in Valletta and want to book a Blue Lagoon boat trip?

Unfortunately, no boat tour operators have a departure point from there yet; however, there are other terminals you can use, and I’ll show you how to find the ideal boat trip that works best for you and your travel companions.

Getting to the Boat Tour Departure Points from Valletta

To hop onto a Blue Lagoon boat tour from Valletta, you’ll need to cross Marsamxett harbour (smaller than it sounds)

  • Public Buses: If you plan to rely on public transport to get around, you’re in the perfect place since the main bus terminus is located in Valletta. Some journeys may take longer than others due to the traffic and location, but overall, it’s a good option to consider.
  • Taxi Services: Download apps for Bolt, Uber or eCabs if you prefer using taxi services. Of course, the price depends on where you’re going, but generally, you won’t pay more than €22.
  • Valletta Ferry Services: The easiest and most convenient way to get to Sliema Ferries.

Valletta to Sliema Ferries

Sliema Ferries terminal is a popular departure point for many boat tour operators. It’s also the closest terminal to Valletta, so if you don’t fancy longer journeys, I recommend finding tours that depart from here.

  • Valletta Ferry Services: This is the most convenient option if you don’t want to use buses. For just a couple of euros, you can get to Sliema Ferries in 15 minutes when using the Valletta Ferry Services.
  • By Bus: Routes 13, 13A or 14 (approx. 20-30 mins)
  • Taxi: €6-€8 (approx. 15 – 20 mins)

Tips from a Local 📝

  • Don’t be late: make sure you meet the crew at the departure point around 20-30 minutes before boarding.
  • Don’t forget to bring your sun essentials, especially if you’re visiting during the peak summer months.
  • Heading to Malta during the winter months? Some boat trips may still be operating, but it’s always best to check with your preferred operator. While you won’t find many people swimming, you can still simply enjoy the views or walk along the rugged cliffs.
