Trying to find the best way to go to Comino’s Blue Lagoon from Valletta?
There’s no direct Blue Lagoon ferry (also referred to as the Comino ferry) from Valletta; however, you can still get to the Ċirkewwa/Marfa Comino ferry terminals via public transport. You can also consider booking a boat tour (you can choose from a variety of tours that suit your budget and preferences).
From Valletta, you need to travel to Ċirkewwa to get to the Comino Ferry departure point. Here is a quick breakdown of the modes of transport you can use:
As I hinted at the beginning of this guide, ferry services can save you some money, however, the journey from point A to point B is longer. If that’s not what you’re after, you can think about booking a boat tour instead (more info below!)
If you want to set foot on land, you need to book access tickets in advance; if you want to go on a boat tour and stay on board, there’s no need.
From Valletta, Routes 41, 42, and X300 can take you to Ċirkewwa. These buses all pass by the main bus terminus at stops B1 & B6.
A quick browse on the Malta Public Transport website or the Tallinja App shows you all the stops and their schedules.
I recommend taking a taxi if you don’t want to wait around for the bus to the Comino ferry terminal in Ċirkewwa. As for operators, download the respective apps, all of which are available on the App Store and Google Play Store:
Upon arrival at the terminal in Ċirkewwa or Marfa, there are two Comino ferry operators you can use to get to the Blue Lagoon:
Tickets can be purchased before you board the boat or online. You can expect to pay anything between €13 and €15 (adult fee) for a round-trip ticket, which includes a little tour of the famous Comino caves. Meanwhile, the ferry journey to Comino is around 25 – 35 minutes.
Generally, Comino Co-Op Ferries’ vessels operate from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, while Ebsons operate from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. I recommend checking the full ferry schedules on the respective websites.
If you’d rather steer clear of the large crowds during peak season and ultimately enjoy a more comfortable experience instead, why not book a boat tour to the Blue Lagoon from Valletta?
From Valletta, you can take a short boat trip on the Valletta Ferry Services to cross Marsamxett Harbour – an easy connection with various boat trip providers. If you want to avoid hopping on a bus, this is the most convenient option; In 15 minutes, you will arrive at Sliema Ferries, the designated stop of most boat tour companies.
Other tour companies depart from the Sirens Quay in Buġibba. However, you’ll need to take bus routes 41, 42, 48, 49, TD13, or X300 from Valletta or book a taxi to get there.
