Blue Lagoon Boat Trips from Buġibba, St. Paul’s Bay and Qawra

Staying in St Paul’s Bay, Buġibba or Qawra and want to book a Blue Lagoon boat tour?

In this guide, I’ve outlined the best tried-and-tested boat trip recommendations to the Blue Lagoon and tips on how to get the most out of your excursion.

Let’s start with the departure point: Buġibba Jetty is one of the ferry terminals that many Blue Lagoon boat tour operators use as their departure point to popular tourist destinations such as Comino’s famous Blue Lagoon.

If you’re staying in the area (St Paul’s Bay, Buġibba and Qawra), using this ferry terminal is a no-brainer since it’s within walking distance or a short bus ride away.

Getting to the Buġibba Jetty Ferry Terminal

The jetty is on Dawret Il-Gzejjer in St. Paul’s Bay, a central location in the resort town close to several souvenir shops, restaurants, bars, and hotels. You can get there by using public transport or taxi services, or if you fancy a stroll, you can enjoy a walk along the seaside promenade.

  • On foot: The walk to Buġibba Jetty is between 5 – 16 minutes, depending on where you’re staying: Qawra (16 mins) and St. Paul’s Bay and Buġibba (5-8 mins).
  • By Bus: If you’re staying in St. Paul’s Bay or Qawra, these are the routes you can use: 32, 48, 186, 203, and 212. You can hop on from the Buġibba bus terminus and get off at this stop: Moll. (approx. 8 mins)
  • Taxi: Download the following apps to your phone (Bolt, Uber or Ecabs) to book a taxi ride. You can expect to pay anything between €5 and €10 (5 min).

Tips from a Local 📝

  • Be on time. I recommend arriving around 20-30 minutes before your tour departs.
  • Bring your own beach essentials: towels, swimwear, and snorkelling equipment.
  • Always have your phone or camera ready to take some incredible photos of the Blue Lagoon, caves, and incredible spots you visit during your tour.
  • Although facilities like the sun loungers included with some tours are free, there is only a limited number available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Not all tour operators allow you to bring your own food and drinks on the vessel. Check the T&Cs of your chosen operator beforehand.
  • Heading to Malta during the winter months? If the weather’s great, some boat tours are still available during this time of year.
