The helmsman was incredibly experienced, and he navigated the waves gently and professionally, and approached the rocks with ease. Contact was seamless via Wazzap.

Departure point

  • Ċirkewwa (Malta) or Mġarr Harbour (Gozo)

How to get there / Transport

By bus:

  • Nearest bus stop in Ċirkewwa: Ċirkewwa – 1 (Routes 41, 42, TD1, or X299)
  • Nearest bus stop in Mġarr Harbour: Vapur (Routes 301, 303, 322, or 323)
  • Especially for Ċirkewwa, this is one of the longer bus journeys, especially if your hotel is on the other side of the island.

By taxi:

  • Use ride-hailing services like Uber, Bolt, and eCabs to get to Ċirkewwa or Mġarr Harbour.
  • Prices for a standard ride are around €10-25, depending on where you’re staying and demand.

By car:

  • Car rentals are available across Malta and Gozo. The price varies depending on the type of vehicle, model, your age, and how many days you will use it for. On average, prices start from around €25.
  • There are parking places at/near both the Ċirkewwa and Mġarr Harbour ferry terminals. Think ahead as some of these may be packed or else there will be lots of people waiting to board the ferry, particularly during public holidays and weekends.

Itinerary

  • Blue Lagoon: The most famous attraction on the tiny island, famous for its crystal clear waters, you’ll have time for swimming and snorkelling here, away from the crowds.
  • Crystal Lagoon: Known for its turquoise waters and rich marine life beneath the waves, the Crystal Lagoon is a great spot for snorkelling enthusiasts.
  • Hidden Caves & Coves: Comino is known for its larger and more secluded caves dotted around the whole island. With a private tour, you’ll get the opportunity to see most of these throughout the day!
  • Lovers Cave: Discover the hidden beauty of the Lovers Cave, a secluded spot on Comino’s rugged coastline that can only be accessed by smaller boats.
  • Elephant Head Rock (Santa Marija Tunnel): As the name suggests, this natural rock formation resembles an elephant in the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Cominotto: Just opposite the Blue Lagoon, Cominotto is another tiny uninhabited island. The beach is mostly rocky, and there’s also a small sandy area. There’s also a stunning swim-through cave you can check out if you love snorkelling.
  • Gozo’s Southern Coast: Alongside Comino, you will also pass by several rock formations and beaches located on Gozo’s southern coast.

N.B. While the above places are included with the classic itineraries, you have free rein to customise your itinerary to your liking with more places or more time spent swimming, sightseeing, etc.
